A conference in Guadalajara hosted by ASFG, where students act as United Nations delegates and simulate UN committees. This three day conference involves substantial researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, as well as critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities. Every year, during the GUAMUN closing ceremony, outstanding delegates in each committee are recognized and given an award certificate. GUAMUN 2021 is excited to welcome international students to the conference, which will be hosted in the Hilton Hotel at Midtown.

Karan Jerath

United Nations Young Leader & Forbes 30 under 30

Karan was born in India and raised in Kuala Lumpur. He moved in 2008 to Houston. Then he attended the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Petroleum Engineering. 

Accomplishments:

  • 2015 Intel Young Scientist Award winner for his invention to clean up oil spills at the age of 17

  • 2016 Forbes 30 under 30 for Energy

  • United Nations Young Leader for the Sustainable Development Goals

    • 14. Life Below Water

  • First Place at the International Sustainable World Project Olympiad 

  • Received awards from the Kingdom of Brunei, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott.
